The Firefly™
Now Available from Sonora...
The Firefly™ is an endoscope system light measurement device. It measures the light output, in lumens, from the light source, fiberoptic light cables, and endoscope. It may be used to test these components individually or as a system.
The Firefly™ produces accurate and repeatable results through the use of its unique integrating sphere, specifically designed for endoscope systems.
- Users can now establish evidence based quality assurance for the hospital.
- Reduce “insufficient light” failures in the OR
- Qualify new and repaired endoscopes
- Reduce unnecessary lamp replacements
- Accurately trend performance changes
- Quickly troubleshoot system failures
Fiberoptic light cables are often the weak link in providing satisfactory illumination for the endoscopic surgeon. Diagnosing a bad light cable can be hit or miss; there are always questions as to whether the problem is in the endoscope, camera, monitor, or light cable. Isolating the light cable from the system and testing it independently allows the biomedical engineer to quickly find the true source of a problem and get the surgical staff back in business.
The Firefly™ works with all major manufacturers and on both rigid and flexible endoscopes.
General Description:
The endoscope tester is a handheld instrument suitable for measuring the luminous radiation of standard medical endoscopic light sources, fiberoptic light cables, and endoscopes. The device consists of an integrating sphere, light meter, and adapters to interface with endoscopic equipment common in surgical applications. Meter output is displayed in lumens.
